Roncalli Academic Awards Program

The Roncalli Academic Awards Program was initiated in 1992 to recognize academic efforts and achievement beyond the classroom and is generously funded by the Roncalli Parent Organization.

Award Levels

To earn points toward an Academic Award, a student must earn a minimum of 100 points. All points must be approved by the Academic Awards Coordinator.

  1. Each student earning 100 points will receive an academic letter.
  2. Each student earning 200 points will receive an engraved Cross pen.
  3. Each student earning 300 points will receive a personalized leather bond bible.
  4. Each student earning 400 points will receive a Roncalli Academic Awards blanket.

Procedures and Guidelines

  1. It is the student’s responsibility to submit academic points documentation to the Academic Awards Coordinator using the Academic Awards points application. These application forms are available on the Roncalli website, in the Main Office, and in the Guidance Center.
  2. The Academic Awards Coordinator will track and verify each student’s Academic Awards points.
  3. Points will not be awarded for events and competitions that are a required part of a Roncalli course.
  4. Note: Students must submit application forms for points during the school year in which they were earned.
    A. Points earned during the summer must be applied for by December 1 of that year.
    B. Points earned during the school year must be applied for by April 1 of that school year in order to be recognized at the Academic Honors Reception in early May.
    C. Points earned during April and May must be applied for by last day of school.

How to Earn Points

Category 1
Points which are automatically granted; no application required.
Will receive one of the three: All A+, A, or A- grades for the semester 25 points
Will receive one of the three: First Honors for the semester 20 points
Will receive one of the three: Second Honors for the semester 15 points
Student of the Month 5 points
RHS scholarships (e.g. Perkins, Eckstein, Lynch, Clark, Leadership) 5 points
Perfect score on a section of the ACT or SAT 10 points
Valedictorian 25 points
Salutatorian 15 points
Category 2
RHS academic competitions (50 points per academic year maximum)
Participation in a qualifying academic competition 5 points
Additional points for earning award-level recognition 10 points
Category 3
Academic enrichment, leadership development and academic summer experiences 5 points
Category 4
Academic recognition or awards from outside sources 5 points
Category 5
RHS academic club membership, meeting an average of 2x per quarter outside of school 5 points
